Into the Wild

This has taken me a while to get back to you guys on, but I am letting you know now that I'm going to be a World Racer starting January 2010.  I'm super excited!  I'm also a bit scared, but I know that if I put my trust in God He will get me through and He will keep me safe.  So now I start raising the funds to be able to go.  It's a lot of money, but in reality it's nto a bad price since I"m going to be living in 11 different countries for 11 months.  We are on a very small budget.  $7 a day per racer.  Soon I will have a web page up on the World Race page so that you can help support me if you want to.  I would love your prayers as well.  I will definatly need them as I embark on this huge adventure God has in store for me.

Until next time! :o)

It's been a loooong time since I last posted.  I guess I'm not just as good at keeping up with this thing as I use to be.  I wonder if anyone still reads this thing?  Well, if you do I have some news to share with you about the things going on in my life.  About two months ago I was reading my friend Jessica's blog.  We know a lot of the same people since we were both Education majors at AU and camp counselors together so I will click and see if she is linked to people I know sometimes.  Well, one day I was doing this and I saw someone on the list.  It said (their name) World Race.  I'm thinking in my head "This sounds interesint what is World Race?"  So I click it and I'm brought to this person's blog talking about this thing called World Race.  I clicked on the home page so I could get more infor and I was hooked immediatly. World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries around the world.  You get to mister to "the least of these" all over in different places where the ministry World Race is affliated with (Adventures in Missions) has started ministry oppertunities.

Even though I was immediatly grabbed by this possiblity of going I knew I needed to give it to God and ask what He wanted me to do.  So I spent a few weeks in prayer and asked a few close friends to pray with me about the situation.  That God would reveal His will for my life as far as this was oncconcered.  Still, after those weeks I felt compelled to go.  I Talked with one of our pastors at church and he said if you feel led then GO!  So I applied.  Now today after work at 4pm I have a phone interview with the World Race people.  This will determine if I am going or not.  Although it's a bit nerve wrecking I feel peace about it.  I know that if this is where God wants me to go that He will make a way and if it is not then He will make a nwe way for me.  It's a good feeling knowing that God is in control.  Why don't I hand stuff over to Him more often?  Good question!

So if I am let into the program I will leave in January 2010.  This trip will at this point take me to the following places.  The schedule is subject to change and actually has already changed once since I first checked it out.  Still, It should give you a good idea of what I might be doing.

Here's a look at the adventure that awaits you...

New Zealand

Even in the midst of a paralyzing atheistic culture, the Maori people are experiencing revival like never before.  Ministries and outreaches from those burdened for this island nation are contributing to the reclaiming of this people group for the cause of Christ.  We go to speak the truth and reap a harvest to the glory of God.

Australia

From the Sydney Opera House to the Aboriginal Tribes of the Australian Outback, World Race will seek to partner with ministries, churches and missionaries who are spreading the hope of Christ to the rich and poor alike.  While Australia boasts a more westernized culture, the marginalized, impoverished, destitute and lost still exist and live each moment for the hope of hearing the good news.

Malaysia

Enter a world entrenched in Islam.  A people with the thriving metropolis of Kuala Lampur, Malaysians still live in ignorance of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Delve into this culture of works-based religion, strong self-discipline, and uncanny faith, while delivering hope and pointing the people to their Redeemer.

Thailand

Even though the official law states that prostitution is illegal, it is estimated that nearly 2 million women and men engage in this practice daily thus creating the lucrative sex industry of Southeast Asia. In addition to reaching out to the rural communities of Thailand, we go to the streets, into the darkest of spiritual environments to share what is most needed: hope. By helping women learn practical vocational skills and providing an alternative form of income, the face of Thailand's premiere sex industry is being changed one life at a time.

Cambodia

Fifty years ago, Cambodia saw one of the most devastating genocides in history. The Khmer Rouge slaughtered nearly two million people – 1/3 of the country's population at the time. In 24 hours cities were emptied, left to be ghost towns. The nation has been in constant upheaval until recently. The strength and resiliency of the Cambodian people is inspiring.  Be a part of holding orphans, born into a new era; meeting felt needs in some of the worst slums in the world; and church planting with an adolescent generation on the verge of religious revolution.

Kenya

The Masai bush, the Nairobi metropolis, the Kiberra slums...comprise a country diverse yet unified in history.  The Kenyan people are colorful, musical, artistic and hungry for the love of Christ.  As a new era dawns in Kenya, so does the Gospel of truth and faith.  By meeting felt needs in the bush and the city, we hope to leave lasting fruit and lasting ministries to carry on beyond us.

Uganda

From the Ugandan islands to the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, the African people of these nations share a common bond.  Through the wild lands, home to Africa's "Big Five" animals coexist people, reached and unreached with the Gospel of Christ.  Through evangelism, church planting and discipleship, we will be a part of a movement to further the kingdom of God in this precious region of the world.

PIONEER AFRICA

During your World Race, your team will take a month to "Ask the Lord" for a new mission field. He may lead you to a location developing, growing and booming or He may lead you to a land untouched by the World Race or even Christianity as a whole.  It will be a time to listen to the voice of the Lord and, with true abandon, follow Him into the wild blue yonder.

Romania

The northern regions of Romania are home to the gypsy people of Romania. Strangers in their homeland, they are segregated, ostracized and forgotten. Yet, they are a strong, proud and vibrant people who are beginning to embrace the light of Christ in a whole new way. Teaching English, leading sports camps, and planting churches are but a few of the tasks set before us as we enter this area of the world.

Ukraine

The developing country of the Ukraine stands caught between its past oppression under the U.S.S.R. communist regime and the desire to be accepted into the Western world.  The forgotten and marginalized of this area are quick to be found if one looks close enough. Come be a part of a revolution, taking back a region from the bondage of Islam and other folk religions. It's a new day for the countries of Eastern Europe!

PIONEER EASTERN EUROPE

Twice during your World Race, your team will take a month to "Ask the Lord" for a new mission field.  He may lead you to a location developing, growing and booming or He may lead you to a land untouched by the World Race or even Christianity as a whole.  It will be a time to listen to the voice of the Lord and, with true abandon, follow Him into the wild blue yonder.

I won't lie the chance to go to Australia and New Zealand are awesome!  I would love to see Oz again and NZ was a place I wanted to go while I was down there but never got to.  I'm also excited about Romania, because Teresa loves it so much and I've seen her pictures so It will be awesome to see the things she has seen.

So this is life here!  Pray for me as God leads me where He wants me.  I'll updated soon about the results of my interview!  Until then!  :o)

Let's see what have I been up to?  Nothing too different.  Work, youth, family, friends, you know the typical.  It doesn't seem possible that we just had Thanksgiving and it's nearly Christmas, at least it feels as if Christmas is rapidly moving closer.  I love this time of the year, but sometimes it can be so busy.  So far, it isn't too busy, but it always seems to fill up.

Thanksgiving was good.  Went to Gram and Pap's with the whole family.  Helped prepare dinner, ate great food and hung out.  Friday we did some Black Friday shopping.  I mangaged to nearly finish my Christmas shopping which is nice.  Just a few more people to mark of fmy list. Saturday we went and got the Christmas tree.  Dave helped us decorate this year.  It's kinda weird having him becoming more a part of our traditions, but it's cool.  :o)  Decorating the hosue took most of the afternoon and then that evening Justine came over to hang out and we played Wii, DDR, and watched some movies.  Today was church and then I went out to lunch witht he young adult group at church.  I love having this group, it's nice to have people aroundmy age to hang out with.  Afterwards I went to Madison's house and we finsihed making her Christmas presents for everyone.  We began this a few weeks ago, but never got done with it.  They look really cute and she is so excited about giving them to everyone in a few weeks.  It was fun.

It's getting really foggy here, is it bad I want another day off of school and I'm hoping for a school closing?  See teachers like days off too!

I've been to the movies a few times in the last week.  I saw Changling and Australia.  Both are AWESOME!  I suggest seeing both of them.  Changling is good, but sad so if you are looking for uplifting don't go see that one yet.  Australia I may be a bit partial towards, but I still think it was amazing.  It has a happier ending as well.  Both super movies.

Well, that's all for now!  Until next time.  :o)

So I've listened to the debate tonight and I watched teh VP debate a few weeks ago.  I've looked at who belives what etc etc.  Do I know who to vote for?  Nope!  I don't have a the slightest clue.  The debates don't help because they just accuse each other of doing this or that and then say "no that isn't how it is"  who the heck do I belive to be right?  Then I agree with Obama on some things and McCain on some things.  I probably as far as policy goes agree more with Obama, but at the same time I feel like I'm not sure if I want to vote for him because I just don't quite trust him.  I don't have a clue as to who to vote for honestly.  I swear I'm going to write myself in or just not vote for teh president.  Although, then not voting seems so wong.  I mean I have this awesome right to vote and then I don't use it.  Seriously I don't know.  It is frustrating.

So there you go, an entry. :o)

I have started to update this thing two or three times in the past months, but then it hasn't happeend (obviously) so now, I'm finally updating.  I know hard to belive huh?  I don't feel like there is too much to say, but we'll see where my typing leads us.

School has started as I'm sure you've already guessed.  I have good classes this year it seems.  My 3 Day class is the most crazy of all of them, but most of the time I can deal with it.  There are some days I get rather frustrated, but as a whole it's not too bad.  I LOVE my 5-Day class!  There are only 7 of them for starters so that is always nice.  Then they are almost all repeat kids (I had them last year in a lower class)  which makes starting the year easier when they all (or 90% of them) know my routines already.  They are just fun to work with too.  They really want to learn and we get to do extra things the other classes can't do because these guys come mroe days and they are a smaller class.  I enjoy that.  My 2-Day class is so cute and somewhat small at 10.  Which sounds small, but when you conisder that it is 10 three year olds then it seems abit more challenging.  Although they are really well behaved.  I have a set of twins who are pretty much some of the most aodrable kids ever.  :o)  It is a fun class though.  So school is good.  Oh here is a funny one.  We were learning about Moses in Bible time and I had told the story in a few different ways that week and on Friday I was having them retell it with me.  So I asked "what country was Moses living in when he was little?"  The respone?  "Columbia City!!"  I smiled and said "well that is where WE live, but where did Moses live?"  We later discoverd Eygpt was the right answer.  It made me laugh though.

Mom went to the hospital about two weeks ago with a racing heartbeat  It was scary, but she has been alright since then.  The doctor said it is something that can happen, and nothing that can be done to make it stop.  They gave her some different meds and that is supose to help it be less likely to occur.  I'm glad that things seem to be doing better now.

This weekend is Homecoming at AU which I'm loking forward to.  It will be good to see some people from college years and go down to see some who are in college currently.  There's some Cheap Thrills and Encore in my future.  We'll dffinatly go to the street fair and who knows what else.  Then I'll come home and head to Dana and Eric's for a cookout with the young adult group.  There are going to be about 10 to 15 people there which is the biggest group we've had and is exciting.  I'm really looking forward to that too.  So it is shaping up to be a great weekend!  I just hope the weather holds out this weekend.

So there is an update!  I fainlly made it to the end.  Now just pray it goes through and posts correctly lol!  :o)
